Customer Success: ImmerShare Scale × SJTU School of Design
-
High Hardware Barriers: High-precision 3D environments required local high-end GPUs and large software downloads, restricting access for mobile, web, and tablet users.
-
Fidelity Loss on WebGL: Browser-native WebGL rendering degraded visual complexity, dynamic lighting, and interactive precision.
-
Global Multi-User Latency: Hosting international scholars and visitors across Europe, Asia, and the Americas without distributed compute infrastructure introduced latency.
SJTU shifted graphics rendering from client devices to the cloud using ImmerShare Scale. Audiences visiting the SITU Platform could navigate to “Studio” → “Atlas” or “Gallery” to explore historical sites—including the Tang Dynasty Chang’an Great Ci’en Temple, Nalanda Temple, and Song Dynasty Shuomen Port—directly within standard web browsers.
- Seamless Web SDK Integration: ImmerShare Scale’s Web Client SDK allowed SJTU developers to embed interactive, cloud-rendered 3D viewports directly into their web application (situ.global), enabling instant access without local software installation.
- Efficient GPU Resource Pooling & Intelligent Allocation: Replaces rigid 1:1 vGPU passthrough with dynamic resource sharing(). Compute workloads are intelligently distributed across available public cloud GPUs, private IDCs, or consumer-grade GPU instances to maximize hardware utilization and multi-user concurrency.
- Proximity-Based Intelligent Routing: Measures real-time Round-Trip Time (RTT) to automatically route web traffic to the most optimal available rendering node, keeping camera navigation and spatial exploration responsive for global users.
- Hybrid & Infrastructure-Agnostic Deployment: Runs flexibly across private servers, public cloud infrastructure, or edge nodes, allowing institutions to leverage existing hardware assets without lock-in.
- Proprietary XLong Transport Protocol: Features adaptive bitrate control, dynamic frame capture, and optimized encoding/decoding to preserve visual clarity and interaction stability even on fluctuating public networks.

-
Virtual Exhibitions & Cultural Heritage: Eliminates venue limits and hardware barriers, enabling museums and cultural institutions to embed heavy 3D scans directly into web platforms for permanent, worldwide access.
-
Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC): Enables architecture studios and design firms to stream heavy BIM models, Unreal Engine visualizations, and real-time CAD walkthroughs directly to clients on any tablet or web browser without local rendering lag.
-
Higher Education & Virtual / Academic Research Labs: Allows university faculties and research centers to deploy intensive 3D AI simulations, virtual labs, and interactive heritage databases across student devices—unifying strict academic precision with low-cost, scalable compute infrastructure.
The university spans multiple advanced campuses, housing dozens of national-level laboratories and research centers that spearhead breakthrough developments in robotics, artificial intelligence, ocean engineering, and medicine. SJTU is dedicated to nurturing elite academic minds and industry pioneers, acting as a critical bridge between deep research, technological commercialization, and global academic exchange.
Operating under the motto “High-End Creative Art Meets Cutting-Edge Scientific Innovation,” the school heavily leverages SJTU’s engineering and AI prowess to lead research in intelligent construction, digital-intelligent heritage preservation, and smart mobility. Its state-of-the-art campus building on the Minhang Campus is globally recognized for its sustainable, engineered timber architecture, earning the prestigious Prix Versailles International Award.
